Quick answer

Salazar Roadside Assistance diagnoses wheel and rim problems at your location anywhere in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Austin. We dismount the tire, find the leak, clean and reseal a corroded bead on site where that is the fault, and coordinate straightening or refinishing when the wheel is bent or cracked. The rate is quoted before we roll and the $19 flat dispatch fee applies.

Bead leaks look exactly like a slow puncture

A tire that is 8 psi down every Monday morning with no nail in it is usually leaking at the bead, where corrosion under the tire's seating surface breaks the seal. Soapy water at the rim edge shows it immediately.

That repair is straightforward: dismount the tire, wire-wheel the corrosion off the seating surface, apply bead sealer, remount and rebalance the pressure. It is a fraction of the cost of the new tire that shops often sell instead.

Curb rash, bends and cracks

Cosmetic curb rash on the outer lip is a refinishing job and does not affect safety. A bent lip that will not hold a bead needs straightening. A cracked wheel — especially the hairline cracks that show up on the inner barrel after a pothole — is a replacement or a certified weld, never a 'watch it and see'.

We tell you honestly which of the three you have, because the price gap between them is large.

  • Bead corrosion cleaned and sealed on site
  • Bent lips identified and measured against the opposite wheel
  • Cracks flagged for replacement or certified repair, never sealant
  • TPMS sensor and valve stem replaced during dismount when needed
  • Spare fitted so you keep the vehicle while a wheel is repaired

What we will not do

We will not pour sealant into a cracked wheel to get you out the door, and we will not straighten a structural crack at the roadside. When the wheel needs a shop, we mount your spare and tell you what the wheel actually needs.

How the call works

  1. 1Call with the vehicle, the wheel that is losing air and how fast it drops.
  2. 2We quote the assessment and dispatch a technician to your location.
  3. 3The tire comes off, the wheel is inspected and the fault is identified.
  4. 4Bead leaks are sealed on the spot; bent or cracked wheels are quoted for repair or replacement.

Answers

Wheel and Rim Repair questions, answered

Why does my tire lose air with no nail in it?

Nine times out of ten it is a bead leak from corrosion on the wheel's seating surface, or a cracked valve stem. Both are cheap fixes once someone actually dismounts the tire and looks.

Can you fix curb rash at my house?

We assess it on site and tell you whether it is cosmetic or structural. Cosmetic refinishing is a shop process; we coordinate it and mount your spare so the vehicle stays usable.

Is a cracked alloy wheel safe to drive on?

No. A crack in the barrel or spoke can fail without warning at speed. We fit the spare and take the wheel out of service.

Do you replace TPMS sensors during a wheel repair?

Yes, when the sensor or its stem is corroded or damaged. It is the right moment to do it, since the tire is already off the wheel.
